General guidelines

To prepare for an event where you will stream VR apps with Portal, you should consider the following steps:

  • Plan your event: Determine the purpose of the event, the VR apps you may be streaming, and the target audience.

  • Set up your VR hardware: Make sure that you have the necessary VR hardware, including headsets, controllers, and PCs and everything is charged.

  • Set up your software: Make sure that the latest version of Portal client app is correctly side-loaded on all the headsets.

  • Upload your VR apps to the Portal: Use the Innoactive Portal control panel to upload your VR apps and make them available for streaming if needed.

  • Give the right permissions to users: After uploading your app, make sure the participants of the event have the right permissions to see the app.

  • Select the best location: Innoactive Portal automatically selects the best location for you, but if you want to have a fixed location throughout the event, you can manually select one.

  • Check any status issue: Visit the Innoactive Portal Status page to monitor any major or minor disruption to the services.

  • Test the streaming of your VR apps: Do a dry-run and the streaming of your VR apps to ensure that they are working correctly and that the user experience is satisfactory. Remember to test in the same network conditions of the event.

  • Test and distribute deep links: for an easier access to the demo, you can use deep links sending them via email or via calendar event. Remember to test the links first and to guide the users in pairing their headsets.

Showing and demonstrating Innoactive Portal and VR in general, is highly dependent on the level of interactions the demo requires and the level of proficiency of the user. We recommend to prepare the participants before the event starts, if possible.
