How to manually select a specific location for cloud rendering
Cloud rendering is an essential component for businesses meetings and events that require high-quality, immersive extended reality experiences, it helps to by-pass the need for heavy equipment and computational power, making it possible to stream also to browsers on low-end laptops, smartphones, tablets or VR standalone devices, from anywhere in the world.
With Innoactive Portal, cloud rendering is a one-click process and works in a transparent way for users. This is called automatic mode. However, sometimes automatic mode may not provide optimal performance for specific locations or use cases.
In this how-to article, we'll show you how to manually select a location for cloud rendering in order to improve performances and make sure you are always connected to your preferred choice. Keep in mind that changing settings should only be done when absolutely necessary. By following the steps below, you'll be able to adapt your preferences and optimize cloud rendering for your business meeting or event.
Switching to Manual mode
The first thing you need to do is to reach Cloud Preferences page, there are two ways to do it, one is from the top right corner, where you see your username, in this case Test. Below your Organization section, there is the Preferences item.
The alternative way, is right before launching an application, clicking on the drop-down menu, the last item of such menu is Cloud preferences.
In both cases, you will get this message:
Simply click on Enable manual mode.
Select the location
You will access a dedicated menu with all the available locations. You can filter between different cloud providers and choose between locations based on distance and latency.
You can choose cloud rendering hardware located all over the world. All the pins showed on the map are selectable.
Just remember that this selection will remain saved into your account, until you change it or go back to automatic mode.
