Autodesk VRED initial settings and suggestions

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • A Windows workstation with Autodesk VRED installed

  • An Apple Vision Pro headset on the same local network as the workstation

  • Access to Apple TestFlight on the Apple Vision Pro

  • A TestFlight invitation from Innoactive (contact Innoactive if you don't have one)

Step 1: Download the Innoactive Spatial Runtime Installer

Download the latest Innoactive Spatial Runtime installer from the official hosting page:

https://spatial-runtime.innoactive.io

This installer contains the Spatial Runtime service and the VRED plugin required for streaming.

Step 2: Install the Spatial Runtime and VRED Plugin

Run the installer on your Windows workstation. During installation:

  • Install the Innoactive Spatial Runtime service

  • Install the VRED Plugin — select the VRED version(s) you want to use for streaming

The installer will guide you through both components. Make sure to install the plugin for every VRED version you intend to test with.

Step 3: Configure VRED for Spatial Streaming

Once the Spatial Runtime and plugin are installed, open Autodesk VRED and configure it for streaming:

  1. Look for the Innoactive button in the VRED toolbar — it is located next to the existing XR button

  2. Click the Innoactive button to open the Innoactive plugin panel

  3. The plugin will perform a status check and flag any configuration issues

  4. Resolve all reported issues — the one hard requirement is that the VRED Web Interface must be enabled

Enabling the VRED Web Interface

If the Web Interface is not already enabled, the Innoactive plugin will flag this. Enable it through VRED's settings to allow the Spatial Runtime to communicate with VRED.

Step 4: Install the App on Apple Vision Pro

Innoactive Spatial app is distributed via Apple TestFlight:

  1. Ensure TestFlight is installed on your Apple Vision Pro

  2. Open the TestFlight invitation link provided by Innoactive — if you don't have a link, contact Innoactive support@innoactive.de to request access

  3. Accept the invitation and install Innoactive Spatial on Apple Vision Pro

Step 5: Connect and Start Streaming

With VRED running on your workstation and the Spatial Runtime active:

  1. Launch the Innoactive Spatial app on the Apple Vision Pro

  2. The app will automatically discover available VRED workstations on the local network

  3. Select your VRED workstation from the discovered devices list

  4. The connection will be established and VRED will begin streaming to the Apple Vision Pro
